In this comprehensive GetResponse review (2019 & 2020), I am going to walk you through everything that you must know before getting into GetResponse’s monthly subscription.

Specifically, I’ll be talking about what is GetResponse, it’s features, pricing, integrations and a few other aspects of it that you should be familiar with before you decide to try it out.

Why Email Marketing Is So Important?

Before we jump right into talking about GetResponse, I wanted to share a few stats about email marketing that are mind blogging.

If anyone thinks that email marketing is dying should look at the following numbers.

Email marketing is still one of the most preferred channels to gain more customers and build business relationships.

Statistica - email marketing stats
Number of sent and received e-mails per day worldwide from 2017 to 2023 (in billions) – Statistica.com

Despite the fact that plenty of new messenger and chat apps are available, email is still the central part of people’s digital life.

  • Statista says that in 2019 (as of writing this), 293.6 billion emails were sent and received every day.
  • It is projected that by 2023 the number of emails sent and received on a daily basis will touch the 350 billion mark. Reference – https://www.oberlo.in/blog/email-marketing-statistics
  • By the end of the year 2023, more than 4.4 billion users will have email accounts up from 3.8 billion in 2018.
  • Hubspot study reveals, nearly 93% of B2B marketers prefer to use email to distribute content and 83% of them have email newsletters as one of their marketing channels.
  • It is projected that the United States alone will spend more than 350 million dollars by the end of the year 2019 on email advertising.
  • More than 35% of business professionals and close to 99% of consumers check their email every day.
  • It was surveyed where 59% of respondents said that email has a major influence when it comes to making a purchase decision.
  • 59% of marketers say that email is their best weapon for marketing and gives them the best return on investment.
  • Adestra says that 73% of millennials prefer email communications for their respective businesses.

I think the facts listed above should give you enough hints about the projected growth of email marketing.

Let’s now discover, whether GetResponse can simplify your email marketing efforts and is it really the right tool for your business.

Bear with me while I take you through this comprehensive GetResponse review (2019 & 2020).

What Is GetResponse?

What is GetResponse?

GetResponse is an all-in-one email marketing and automation platform that enables marketers and companies to build targeted email lists and automate their email marketing efforts.

It helps individual marketers, small to medium-sized companies and large corporates generate more leads, reduce costs and increase the ROI.

I have been a GetResponse customer since 2013 and the one thing I like the most about GetResponse is that it offers solutions for everyone, from novice marketers to large companies.

GetResponse was founded in 1999 by an entrepreneur Simon Grabowski and it’s still growing strong with each passing year.

During the initial days, Simon operated it from a small office in the city of Gdynia, Poland.

Currently, GetResponse has offices in many countries globally and a team of more than 300 professionals.

As I mentioned earlier, GetResponse has more than 350k customers in more than 180 countries and it offers services in 21 different languages.

  • GetResponse claims that they have a delivery rate close to 99% collectively despite dependency on many factors.
  • GetResponse is the most preferred tool by the top marketers and companies around the world when it comes to sending the autoresponders (or automatic emails).
  • With GetResponse, you have the ability to launch effective marketing campaigns by automating the email follow-ups and other essential tasks.
  • It facilitates advanced analytics in graphical format. With that, you should be able to quickly track the leads, conversions and return on investments for your business.
  • Today, GetResponse is not just limited to autoresponders and newsletters, but it offers a wide range of other services like online surveys, autofunnels, landing pages builder, marketing automation, webinars and enterprise solutions.
  • The in-built drag-and-drop landing page builder lets you create beautiful and converting landing pages without doing any programming.

While the majority of other email marketing platforms offer a 14-day free trial period, GetResponse offers a 30-day free trial and that too without adding a credit card.

There are plenty of powerful features that make GetResponse stand out in the crowd, especially the ability to create automated marketing workflows and hosting live webinars.

GetResponse Features

Now that you know what is GetResponse and have an overall idea about what it has to offer, let’s briefly talk about key GetResponse features.

Getresponse Features

Here are the top features that GetResponse offers:

1.  Autoresponders

The GetResponse autoresponder gives the power to create and manage the email follow-ups with your contacts or subscribers.

It allows you to add and follow up emails to the autoresponder cycle and manage autoresponders in the calendar and list view.

Easily move the emails to different days in the autoresponder cycle and prevent them from getting sent on specific days of the week.

You have the ability to schedule the time autoresponders should be sent out in different time zones.

Adding the contacts to a particular cycle or moving them to a different one is just a matter of a few clicks.

With powerful analytics in place, you will be able to check the statistics, open rates, click-through rates, conversion, number of signups etc on a particular day.

2. Newsletters

Sending out one-time email broadcasts, weekly or monthly newsletters are easy to configure inside GetResponse.

There is an option to switch between the drag-and-drop editor or HTML source editor to design the newsletters.

You can choose from a wide variety of hundreds of pre-designed templates.

Simply pick up one and customize it based on your needs.

The good part with a drag-and-drop newsletter builder is that it doesn’t require you to have any coding knowledge.

If you want to take your template design to a new level then the HTML source code editor is preferable to use.

3. Automated Emails

Apart from the autoresponder emails that can be set up for the regular email campaigns, you can configure automated emails for other purposes as well.

For example, trigger the email automatically when the user visits certain pages on your site, purchases your products, cart abandonment, etc.

4. Email Segmentation

Segmentation of the email lists is the technique to split your contacts based on one or more conditions.

GetResponse facilitates advanced search tools that will let you easily organize your contacts into subgroups and segments.

This not only allows you to build a highly-targeted email list but also send personalized emails based on their interests.

5. Drag & Drop Landing Page Builder

GetResponse offers a library of hundreds of landing page templates that can be customized to match with your company brand.

You will find almost any type landing page that you’ll ever need to create for your business in any niche, for example, opt-in pages, sales pages, webinar pages, promo pages or download pages, etc.

Personally I didn’t like the quality of the landing page templates as compared to other landing page builders like ClickFunnels, Kyvio, LeadPages, etc.

Many of them are quite outdated and not mobile-responsive.

Even the drag-and-drop landing page builder is not as powerful compared to other tools available in the industry.

But the good part is that GetResponse provides you more than 5000 free Shutterstock images that can be directly inserted into your emails and landing pages.

6. Autofunnels

This is a very hot and new feature from GetResponse.

GetResponse offers an in-built automated sales funnel builder that will enable you to build the landing pages, automated emails, sell products, reduce cart abandonment and get more conversions.

It basically allows anyone to create three types of funnels:

  • Sales funnels for selling your own products.
  • Lead funnels for growing your audience by capturing the email leads of website visitors.
  • Webinar funnels that will allow you to share your knowledge and make more money.

There are more than 30 pre-built funnel templates ready to be customized for your business that is designed by professionals.

All the templates are conversion-optimized and designed to help you make more sales, get more leads, develop your brand and ultimately grow your business.

7. Marketing Automation

The marketing automation feature from GetResponse is scalable and fully focused on getting more sales with a minimum effort.

GetResponse offers a powerful drag-and-drop workflow builder that will help you create simple to most complex marketing workflows.

The entire user experience can be designed and implemented with this simple-to-use yet powerful workflow builder.

There is no limit when it comes to implementing various scenarios and conditions for defining your users’ journeys.

The in-built eCommerce capabilities will help you track your website visitors, sales, transactions, and even cart abandoners.

8. Webinars

GetResponse was the first email marketing platform to offer a fully-fledged webinar marketing solution.

With this webinar solution, there are several ways to engage with your audience like chat, polls, whiteboards and youtube integration, etc.

There is an option to create either free or paid webinars.

It’s a complete webinar solution that handles everything for you, for example, webinar registration, payment gateways and integration with traffic tools like facebook ads.

The webinar pages are written by the experts and can be easily customized based on your needs.

The high-quality recordings can be shared with your audience for download or replay.

Creating a webinar is just a matter of clicking the “Start Recording” button.

9. GetResponse CRM

GetResponse CRM works on the four principles, collect, nurture, sell and repeat.

It’s easier than ever to track where your customers are and what they do at each stage of your business’s sales pipeline.

With GetResponse CRM feature, you will be able to create your own customized sales pipeline to view and control your entire sales process.

Keep track of each and every lead from a single window that will not allow any deal to fall through the cracks.

10. WebForms

GetResponse allows you to create almost every kind of form and survey to capture the leads and feedbacks.

It’s simple and straightforward to create the forms of your choice using a drag-and-drop forms builder.

You won’t need any programming knowledge in order to design and build the forms that are customized to your needs.

There are more than 500 pre-built libraries of form templates in 9 different categories.

Color Magic allows you to match the colors of your forms with your website or brand.

You can run the A/B split test to maximize your conversions.

  • Newsletter sign-up
  • Order forms
  • Free download
  • Free course sign-up
  • Feedback forms
  • Event sign-up
  • Seasonal forms
  • Blank forms

11. Surveys

Surveys are considered as a powerful market research tool for hearing back from your customers about what they think and want.

You are allowed to add up to 50 pages in a single survey and can use multiple question formats.

Add your company logo and signup forms to the survey pages.

There is much more that you can do to create powerful surveys and collect valuable feedback from your customers.

12. List Builder Apps

GetResponse offers you to create almost every type of list builder app like signup box, scroll form, fixed bar, download box, shake box, exit popup, image box, etc.

You can place on or more of these apps on your website and give them a look that matches your brand.

These are the quick apps that are pre-designed, easy to integrate and simplest way to start building your subscriber list.

13. Ecommerce Tools

GetResponse offers end-to-end eCommerce capabilities that you will ever need to sell anything online.

Furthermore, it offers an integration with major eCommerce tools like Shopify, Etsy, Ecommerce, Magento, WooCommerce, etc.

Other eCommerce tools include adding the stores and products, payment processors integrations, sales funnels, recommendations, abandoned carts, automation, segmentation, list building, and reporting.

14. Social Ads Creator

The Ads Creator interface from GetResponse basically allows you to engage with your followers, find a new audience and generate more traffic from social media platforms.

The social ads creator allows anyone to create eye-catching and engaging banners and videos in just a matter of minutes.

You don’t need to be a designer in order to create stunning animations and graphics as there are ready-to-customized templates for your business.

The purpose here is to run engaging social media campaigns to generate more traffic, clicks, share and ultimately more sales for your business.

15. Facebook Ads & Instagram Ads

There is in-built support for setting up targeted Facebook and Instagram Ads right inside your GetResponse account.

With this feature, you have an incredible opportunity to reach people beyond your email list.

It has support for all the features that Facebook and Instagram ads offer, for example, discover a similar audience, facebook pixel, remarketing campaigns, etc.

Simply set your ads budget, ads timing, design your ads using GetResponse Social Ads creator app and hit the submit button.

Once your ads are approved by Facebook or Instagram and live, you will be able to see the stats right within your GetResponse account.

16. Email Analytics

GetResponse provides real-time activity tracking about your email open rates, click-through rates, conversions etc.

The statistics are available in the forms of various graphs that will quickly help you understand your subscribers’ activity patterns and optimize your campaigns accordingly.

There is a provision for viewing the details for the different types of email clients like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.

There are easy-to-understand graphs for all of your autoresponders that can help you compare the statistics.

Quickly identify non-converting emails and optimize for better performance and results.

17. A/B Testing

A/B split testing is the best way to create more engagements with your subscribers and understand what works best for them.

It facilitates a single window to take a look at their activities and preview their complete details.

With a global view, it’s easy to track who is opening, clicking and sharing the emails sent to them by you.

It not only tracks user behavior with emails but also their preferences and engagements on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.

GetResponse Pricing

We talked about what is GetResponse and its key features.

Now I think it’s the right time we talk about GetResponse pricing plans, how much does GetResponse cost each month and is it really worth it.

When it comes to choosing the right email marketing software, it’s essential to consider many aspects before getting into a monthly recurring billing.

For example, whether it offers a free trial, the list size, drag-and-drop email and form builders, sales funnels, automation workflows, customer support, and whatnot.

As I mentioned earlier, GetResponse offers a full 30-day free trial while most of the other email marketing tools offer only a 14-day free trial.

Once your trial period is over, you need to choose a plan of your choice.

The GetResponse has one of the cheapest pricing plans in the industry that starts at $15 per month for 1000 subscribers.

Basically it has four pricing plans to choose from, Basic, Plus, Professional, and Enterprise.

The recurring monthly cost you will pay will solely depend on the plan you choose.

Is GetResponse Free?

I get to hear this question from many of my followers and subscribers, is GetResponse free?

GetResponse doesn’t have any free plan but it offers a 30-day free trial for the list size less than 1000 subscribers.

So basically, it’s free for the first month and in the subsequent months, you need to pay the cost as per your chosen plan.

During this 30-day trial period, you can explore all the features for the plan of your choice.

getresponse free trial

All the popular email marketing platforms only offer a 14-day trial period while GetResponse gives full month free access to try out their services.

In my opinion, the 30-day trial period should be enough for anyone to try and explore everything inside the account.

If you are a beginner, I’d recommend starting with a “Basic Plan” and you grow your business upgrade to the higher plans.

Apart from the list size, also check for the features that you are looking for while choosing the plan.

For example, if you need to create only one sales funnel, the “Basic Plan” can work for you but if you need multiple sales funnels then choosing the “Plus Plan” would be a better choice.

Compare the features and also consider the size of your business while making a decision about choosing the perfect plan.

Putting a little more thought in the beginning can save a lot of money later on.

GetResponse has a pricing plan for everyone, from beginners to large organizations, so it’s a little difficult to choose the right plan that would fit best for the size of your business.

I have already shared what you must know before choosing the perfect plan but again, it’s a good idea to do your own research before getting into the monthly billing.

Conclusion
